Can I visit the Museum to view exhibits?
Yes, self-directed tours of ongoing exhibits at Sarah Jane Williams Heritage Centre are available by appointment. See our Schedule a Visit page to request a date and time!

Am I able to visit the Museum to conduct research?
Yes, the Museum’s research service is available by appointment only. Please complete the Research Request Form, and if needed, schedule a visit to work with our staff team.

Can my family visit to play in ClaringTOWN?
ClaringTOWN remains open, however many of the interactive elements have been removed to limit high-contact surfaces.

What is the Museum’s capacity for visits?
The Museum is currently allowing access for research and exhibit viewing through appointments, which are limited to one person/household per timeslot.

What additional cleaning is being conducted to ensure my visit is safe?
The Museum is allowing access to its spaces through appointment-only visits, to ensure all touch points can be thoroughly cleaned between visits from our community. Research stations or other high contact surfaces will be cleaned between users, as well as other mitigating strategies to keep the community and Museum staff safe.

Is it safe to handle documents or other materials during research?
As always, preserving Clarington’s history is a vital part of the Museum’s operation, and materials in the Museum’s collection may only be handled according to our policies. After use, materials will be isolated for three to five days (depending on the material type) before being returned to storage.
